There’s nothing like seeing VELCRO® Brand Garden Products in action. Recently I spent 2 days shooting promotional and educational videos for VELCRO® Brand Garden Products at a nursery in New Hampshire. It was sunny, hot and fun!
Many gardeners know about the versatility, ease of use and durability of the VELCRO® Brand Garden Ties. I’ve used them for years tying up grape vines, tomatoes, climbing vines, and trees. This time of year it’s great to see how adjustable they are. Take using them on tomatoes, for example. At the beginning of the season I always cut a length of garden tie longer that I need. Come August I can adjust the garden ties to the ever expanding plants to keep them supported. Another way to keep a large tomato or dahlia upright and growing strong is to ring the plant with stakes and wrap garden ties around the stakes and plant. I also use them on our grape vines. As the fruit forms, the vines become heavy and may need extra support from the garden ties to keep the fruits off the ground.
Garden ties are also great for hanging and drying herbs. Harvest rosemary, sage, oregano, mint and other leafy herbs now. Cut 6- to 12-inch long stems, remove the bottom leaves, wrap the VELCRO® Brand Garden Ties around the bundle of stems and hang them on a hook in an airy shed, garage or room. Once dry, store in glass jars for up to 6 months.
While the garden ties are the most widely known of the VELCRO® Brand Garden Products, there are other VELCRO® Brand Products that have a host of garden applications. The VELCRO® Brand ONE WRAP® Ties are perfect for bundling up cables, ropes and wires for easier storage. The VELCRO® Brand Elastic Strap is great for bundling up stakes and poles with knobs or bumps on them. The elastic grips the uneven surfaces of the stakes so they don’t slip. To get better organized so you can move around in your garden shed and find the tool you need, when you need it, try some the VELCRO® Brand fasteners. VELCRO® Brand Extreme Outdoor fasteners are weather resistant, strong, and adhere well to wood and other materials. They are great for hanging up tools, empty watering cans and products inside or outside a shed.
