Lindsey Whittle Takes VELCRO® Brand to New Sculptural Heights in MFA Thesis

Every once in awhile we come across a project that wows us. Lindsey Whittle’s thesis certainly falls into that category. A master’s design student in Fashion, Garment and the Body, Lindsey experimented with our product on an entirely new scale.

She created wearable and explorable garments using a combination of fabrics and VELTEX®. They not only draw people in and encourage them to play, they also provoke people to think about their daily tactile experiences. Check out the video below for the backstory of our partnership and her project:

As you’ll notice the color palette is not for the faint of heart. Lindsey describes it as “eccentric,” which is an intentional choice. One of her main objectives is to “share joy with people” whether through performance or casual interaction. She also quotes another inspirational character, Kid President, who says, “If it doesn’t make the world more awesome, don’t do it.” We totally agree.
