How to Make a DIY Kitchen Utensil Holder

Clear clutter from your kitchen worktops with this easy DIY idea!

Making a wall-mounted utensil holder is a great way to upcycle old tin cans and takes barely any time at all! Read on to find out what to do.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Clean and empty tin cans
  • Spray paint
  • VELCRO® Brand Industrial Strength Strips
  • DIY Utensil Holder

WHAT TO DO

Start with three empty tin cans – make sure they’re clean and dry and then spray paint them in the color of your choice.

Spray painting is best done outside, on top of a few sheets of newspaper, and you may need to do two coats (check the instructions on the can).

Next, take a pack of VELCRO® Brand Industrial Strength Strips. The beauty of using hook and loop to fix your utensil holder to the wall is that the tin cans can be simply peeled off the wall when you need to clean them.

Stick the ‘loop’ side of a strip on the back of each tin can and stick the ‘hook’ side of each strip on the wall where you want to put your utensil holder.

Leave the strips for one hour to give the adhesive time to set before you fix your tin cans to the wall and put any weight in them.

Once the industrial strength strips have firmly stuck to the tins and tiles, stick the tin cans firmly to the strips on the wall.
