Global Innovator in Fastening Solutions Announces Global Services Office in the Financial District While Maintaining a Strong Commitment to Its Presence in New Hampshire
- July 16, 2013 - Velcro Companies, with its commitment to creating smart products, services and technologies wherever things can be connected, today announced a new Global Services Office (GSO) in Boston. The office marks momentum in President and CEO Alain Zijlstra's vision to double the size of Velcro Companies, starting with the expansion of the company's New England presence through a new office in Boston. The company has its strongest North American presence in New Hampshire with 700 employees.
The new office, located at 265 Franklin Street, will enhance Velcro Companies' connection to urban consumers and trends as well as the global business community and related resources. The new GSO will also better position functions such as global corporate, global finance and global marketing, equally focusing on all three areas.
“Through organic growth, geographic expansion, licensing and acquisition, we are poised to continue to grow the size of the company,” said Alain Zijlstra, President and CEO, Velcro Companies. “Opening an office in Boston allows us to be one step closer to achieving our goal of global development and continued innovation. The city's thriving downtown also allows us to increase our regional scope and augment our ability to serve our global customers and partners due to its close proximity to Logan Airport."
The GSO will mirror the design aesthetic of the company's European headquarters in Barcelona, Spain by incorporating similar design elements created by Luiseslava Studio. Product and space designer, Luis Eslava transformed and refurbished the Barcelona office by incorporating action VELCRO® Brand products in the décor and has done the same in the new Boston office.
Velcro Companies will continue to maintain its American headquarters in Manchester, NH. Corporate level employees including Chief Financial Officer, Fraser Cameron and Vice President of Global Marketing and Innovation, Jurjen Jacobs will be stationed in the Boston office. Additionally, global functions including marketing, finance, human resources, legal, the consumer business unit and brand management will also be based in Boston.

Note to editors:
At Velcro Companies, we are proud that VELCRO® brand products have become a part of everyday life, but that ubiquity sometimes produces confusion. The VELCRO® trademark should be used only when referring to genuine VELCRO® brand fasteners. Non-VELCRO® brand products should be identified by their functional terms, such as “hook and loop,” “self-adhesive straps,” and so forth. The VELCRO® mark should always be used as an adjective and never as a noun or a verb. The term “Velcro Companies” should be used when referring to our company and its executives.
The proper use of the VELCRO® trademark assists us in safeguarding the integrity of the VELCRO® brand, and helps to protect consumers from products incorrectly sold as VELCRO® brand products. For further information on the proper use of the VELCRO® trademark, please see the guidelines
on our website.
