Velcro Companies Celebrates Manufacturing Day 2014

Across the country today, people and businesses celebrated Manufacturing Day. But in New Hampshire, we chose to do things a little differently. Instead of one day, we declared an entire week, during which 41 companies will welcome over 1,000 high school students and their teachers into their facilities to learn about how we power New Hampshire’s economic engine. In fact, just this week, we met with students from three local highschools.

Today, though, was a day of ceremony. We were honored to host Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas and state Senators Lou D’Allesandro and Donna Soucy to talk about the future of our state and economy.

Velcro_Industries_Manufacturing_Day_2014As our very own Matt Dempsey said, “We have been a part of New Hampshire’s manufacturing community for nearly 60 years and are committed to its growth and evolution. This week, we hosted groups of students for tours of our facility here. We’re helping to inspire and encourage the next generation of manufacturing leaders by showing them that today’s manufacturing operations are driven by technology and innovation, provide strong career opportunities and, most importantly, help to grow the New Hampshire economy.”

Did you know that manufacturing in the state employs over 66,000 people?
